PRINCE Charles seems to think that his job as heir to the throne gives him the power to bully and harass people in all areas of national life.
It’s true that his views on architecture, complementary medicine, the environment and animal husbandry often chime with those of the majority of the British public and challenge the conventional wisdom of those in positions in power.
In that sense, his contributions often create a healthy debate about the great issues that face society. Government ministers, in particular, live in dread of receiving a letter in his spidery handwriting, lambasting them for doing or not doing something.
His outspoken views on the environmental disasters facing Britain have made him a powerful advocate for radical action to combat climate change.
On climate change, the British Government currently shares his concerns and uses him as a battering ram to persuade other governments around the world to come around to the British way of thinking - though some might say ministers lack the political will and courage to take the necessary action to stop global warming in practice.
Where Charles reflects Government policy, he is doing a good job for Britain.
