Frail Liza Minnelli, 76, leans on pal for support after leaving restaurant in a wheelchair

LIZA MINNELLI was seen being escorted out of a restaurant in a wheelchair after the actress enjoyed a meal with her pal George Hamilton.

Liza Minnelli celebrated her 76th birthday earlier this month. The Cabaret actress, who is the daughter of the late Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli, was seen enjoying a meal out at Il Piccolo restaurant in West Hollywood, California, with actor George Hamilton, 82, on Monday night.

The on-screen star was pictured leaving the restaurant in a wheelchair before being supported by a man who held her hand and helped her into the car.

Liza sported an all black ensemble for the evening outing, while the actress sported her signature dark tresses which was styled into a pixie cut.

The Hollywood star was joined by her longtime pal George who looked equally smart in a navy suit jacket, sand trousers and a white buttoned shirt.

The duo appeared in high spirits as the former Dynasty actor flashed a grin.

He was pictured chatting with Liza as she was helped into her vehicle.

Liza is best known for her Academy Award-winning performance in 1972's Cabaret, as well as the 1981 comedy Arthur, and for recording several hit albums.

She is best recognised for her extravagant stage presence and powerful alto singing voice.

Liza was born on March 12, 1946, to Judy and Vincente.

Judy, who is best known for her role in The Wizard of Oz, died on June 22, 1969, in London at age 47.

Her late father Vincente died aged 83 from emphysema and pneumonia.

Liza has previously addressed the self-titled biopic about her mother, Judy.

Renee Zellweger played the actress in the film about her life, which came out in October 2019.

In February 2020, Liza revealed that she as no interest in seeing the film Judy, as she told Variety: "I hope [Zellweger] had a good time making it."

In June 2018, Liza took to her Facebook page to slam reports that she bonded with Renee after she landed the role of her mother in the film.

"I have never met or spoken to Renee Zellweger...," she said.

"I don't know how these stories get started, but I do not approve nor sanction the upcoming film about Judy Garland in any way. Any reports to the contrary are 100% Fiction."

The movie received both commercial and critical success, with Renee, 50, also winning a multitude of accolades.

Renee won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, a British Academy Film Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Liza has previously addressed the difficulty of following in her parents' footsteps into the world of showbusiness, saying it was "getting to be known as myself as opposed to somebody's daughter".

She won an Oscar for her role in the 1972 film Cabaret at the age of 26.
