Jeremy Clarkson has ventured into the world of horse racing by purchasing his very first racehorse, and he's enlisted the expertise of Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer Ben Pauling to prepare the steed for competition.

The multifaceted television host, known for his work on Top Gear, The Grand Tour, and the agricultural hit Clarkson's Farm, is now the proud owner of a grey gelding aptly named The Hawkstonian, a nod to his own brewery.

Located conveniently near Clarkson's operations, Ben Pauling will be taking charge of The Hawkstonian's training. However, fans will have to wait until the next jumps season, commencing at the end of April, to see the horse in action.

Jeremy quipped about the mix-up with his team: "I said to the Hawkstone team that we should get into racing but clearly they got motor racing and horse racing confused! ".

He added to The Mirror: "That said, Ben Pauling is a stone's throw from Diddly Squat Farm and the Hawkstone Brewery, so I know where my hay is going. Furthermore, the Pauling family originally farmed our land and taught Kaleb all he knows about farming."

The Hawkstonian is set to be syndicated, initially available to members of the Hawkstone club, then to those on an Old Gold Racing waiting list, before being offered to the general public.

A total of 3,250 shares in The Hawkstonian will be up for grabs, priced at £60 each for a term of 14 months. Ed Seyfried, CEO of Old Gold Racing, expressed pride in powering the first-ever Hawkstone Racing syndicate.

"Jeremy has helped transform views of agriculture with his hit television show and we are looking forward to welcoming him on the racing scene this coming season."

He went on: "Most petrolheads start by tinkering with lawnmowers; well, this lawnmower can reach speeds of 35mph over three miles whilst jumping hedges; beat that Flymo!"

Pauling commented: "I look forward to educating Jeremy and his Hawkstone members about all things horse racing and I hope The Hawkstonian is as fast as the plug-in hybrid Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale! ".

Johnny Hornby, from Hawkstone Brewery, quipped: "Jeremy said we should get involved in racing, on reflection we obviously screwed up, but we are going to all have a lot of fun with this horse."
