Kate Hudson has come to the defence of her big brother, Oliver, slamming trolls for their behaviour.

Oliver, 47, was receiving backlash from fans for his "nepo-baby privilege" after recently speaking out about his childhood trauma. Kate has received similar criticism, which she has addressed.

The sibling duo are estranged from their father, Bill, a musician and actor, who left when he was four-years-old, making light with dark humour of the situation previously with a Father's Day post, captioned: "Happy Abandonment Day."

They were raised by their mother, Oscar-winning actress Goldie Hawn, whom he said he didn't always feel protected by at times while growing up in Hollywood. The revelation came on the heels of the actor completing a week-long retreat at The Hoffman Institute.

“She would be working. She had new boyfriends that I didn't really like," he said on the Sibling Revelry podcast. "This is my own perception as a child who didn't have a dad and needed her to be there, and she just wasn't sometimes. She would be living her life, and she was an amazing mother."

However, he later clarified that "there was no trauma coming from my mother, the way she raised me, in any way whatsoever," noting that he was speaking from the perspective of his five-year-old self.

Kate posted on TikTok on Monday, saying: "He's afraid to say anything because he feels like things get picked up negatively, and I was like, "Who cares?" And then I really started thinking about it. I'm like, people do care, actually."

Kate continued: "It's not nice when people take something out of context or they look at something you're doing and they get all negative about it, and they poke at it, and they scrutinise it and they criticise it.”

As a celebrity, Hudson revealed that you "kind of have to get used to it because people can be so mean," noting that a lot of comments are from people hiding behind anonymous accounts.

She continued to slam the trolls as "jealous, not well, incredible and deeply unhappy and bored as f**k," adding that "even if they're kinda sane or whatever, they're definitely not the kind of person you'd be friends with. Like, let's be honest."

She added that real friends "talk amongst themselves" rather than "s**t talk" on social media.

She said, rhetorically: "You really want to be friends with people who go on other people's Instagrams and talks s**t on TikToks or whatever? No."

She explained that she reassured her brother that those hurtful comments "don't matter" and "no one really cares" about the accusations they are making.

"These are not people you'd hang out with,' Hudson explained. These aren't people you'd break bread with. These aren't people who will enrich your lives — so just block 'em! Block 'em. Block, delete, bye," she said. "And you know what? Block anyone who talks s*** about anyone else too."

She added: "Like, if someone comes onto your thing and says you're better than someone else, block them too. We don't like people like that."
