Monty Don leaves fans gushing over adorable pic after update on beloved dog's sad death

Monty Don's fans have been left gushing over the Gardeners' World star's latest photo as he posed with his adorable dog Ned. Taking to Instagram on Sunday (May 5), the famed gardener, 68, lovingly held his Golden Retriever as he stood on his two back legs.

Monty and Ned could be seen gazing at each other as they enjoyed their picturesque garden at his Herefordshire, Longmeadow. Monty simply captioned the post as "dancing" and immediately sparked a flurry of reaction from his 1.3 million followers. Some even demanded to see Ned "bouncing around" on BBC's Gardeners World.

Taking to the comments, one fan wrote: "More Ned bouncing edits on Gardeners World please". While a second added: "How much he loves you, you can totally see. What a lovely lovely dog he is."

A third chimed in with: "My dog wants to know when the Ned bouncing programme will be on!" Another added: "Oh, beautiful Ned. Such a beautiful soul."

"Fabulous, you are his best friend Monty", said one of the TV stars' followers, as another simply exclaimed: "Beautiful."

The sweet snap alongside Ned comes after Monty recently confirmed he has a tribute for his late dog Nell in his wonderful garden. Last year, the horticulturist revealed that his beloved dog Nell had died of cancer - three years after losing golden retriever Nigel.

Monty, who is known for his love of dogs and regularly inviting his much-loved furry friends to share screen time with him, confirmed the sad news to his followers.

Sharing photos of Nell, he wrote: "I was going to tell you about my new book which is published next week but that can wait because my lovely dear Nell died last night.

"She was diagnosed with cancer in June and every day this summer has been a gift but it is over now. We buried her in the garden next to Nigel wrapped in one of my jackets with flowers, balls and her favourite biscuits."

In a recent social media post, Monty confirmed with fans that he has a sweet tribute in his garden for his late canine companion.

The photo showcased several plant pots which contained bright colourful tulips and one of the pots featured an inscription of Nell's name alongside an outline of a dog.

Monty shared a photo of the tribute on Instagram last month, captioning it: "The Nell pot (trickier to read, but it's there)."

The post has since garnered over 20,000 likes, with fans leaving comments such as: "What a sweet tribute. Beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl," and, "How lovely for Nell".

"Ahhh that's brilliant I didn't know she had one," remarked an excited follower. Echoing the sentiment of others, one admirer responded, "Lovely idea." Another comment on the post read: "Lovely way to remember your pets."

Both Nell and Nigel had made appearances alongside Monty on Gardeners' World, which he has been presenting since 2011.

Now, it's Monty and his younger dog Ned gracing the BBC show with their presence.
