Humiliated?

Published: Friday November 30,2007 by Ethan

Quote: However, the officers of the Union stuck to their guns. They let Irving and Griffin come to be humiliated by rational argument. That is one of the functions of this great debating society, is it not? To propose, test and validate or invalidate.

I don't think anyone has seriously suggested that is what happened. I'm sure if it had come anywhere close to it, we would all have been told about it 1000 times by now.

I congratulate you, Anne, on your stand for free speech. But please, can you give us an honest account of how the argument with Nick Griffin actually went.

If it was really believed that being given the opportunity to present his views would lead to his humiliation, why not give him a regular column in this newspaper or a slot on national television?
