Exposing the Donkey Abuse

I've been to Santorini for many times since 1985. There's one aspect of abuse to the donkeys I've witnessed that hasn't been exposed. I am doing so here. Perhaps it is no longer practiced by the donkey handlers, but my suspicion is that they just have not yet been caught at it. I have witnessed that in the end of the stick that they use to drive the donkeys forward there is a removable metal point, probably the end of a nail or a sharpened piece of steel, that they use to poke the donkey to keep it moving. It is small and easy to miss, and they can easily pull it out an put it in their pocket if they need to conceal it. This is yet another example of the cruel treatment these poor animals must endure on a daily basis.
