In a few words:

IN THE REAL WORLD HE WOULD GET A P45

Published: Saturday May 10,2008 by Peter_Pan

Why do our MP’s not live and work in the real world like the rest of us? In the real world, how many employers would pay an employee a salary to do a job and then pay someone else a salary to tell the employee how to do it? Get real! That is similar to applying for a job as a bus driver and then telling the boss you need someone else to tell you how to find the way back to the bus station.

An election is a bit like a job application. We go to the ballot box, select the candidate we think is best qualified for the job and we expect the chosen candidate to have the brains to do the job on their own.

If our MP’s suddenly realise they do not have a decent idea in their head after appointment, then they are unfit to hold the job. They do not deserve to draw their salary if they need to employ unelected "advisers" to come up with ideas on their behalf. They are a waste of time and are not worth the money we are paying them PLUS the £400,000 more Gordon Brown needs to pay his (unelected) adviser's salary.

If he is unable to do his job unaided, he should get his P45 and we should appoint someone competent to replace him.
