In a few words: I am an OAP living in London UK

Yes Yes Yes

MPs should only get expenses for essensials not for food etc. This second home thing should be tightened. It should only be given to MPs who live 100miles or over two hours travel out of London.

Even then these second homes should be limited to the average cost, and when they leave the job they should sell that 2nd home and reimburse the exchequer (tax payer).

They should only be able to claim for furniture and fittings at prices equivalent to IKEA/MFI, if they want better quality furniture then that extra cost should come out of their own pocket. Second homes are a concession not a right to luxury living at tax payers expense.
