The blood suckers

Published: Tuesday June 3,2008 by Tomas

While the southern part of the UK shouts with indignation at the "Snouts in the Trough" MP's, very little has been said of the Scottish Parliaments methods from which Westminster may learn something.
Firstly, ALL expenses by MSP's must be accompanied by receipts. The secondary housing allowance, which is considerably lower than Westminster and covers mortgage interest only, is under review by an independent review. The recommendation, if implemented, will mean some MSP's will have to sell their second home. Any profit from this will be a bone of contention with the public, many of whom want it donated to charities. Also, the report recommends that MSP's will only be allowed to claim for rent or hotels, ONLY if they SELL their Edinburgh homes first.
Lets wait ans see what the Westminster review comes up with.
