In a few words: Happily married for 25 years. Slowly seeing my quality of life slowly ebbing away due to living costs and responsibilities.

Downward Spiral

Published: Saturday June 7,2008 by dobby

As a self employed "one man band" mechanic of five years, I am slowly seeing the business I built up going down the tubes. Customers are just having the basics done to keep their vehicles legal these days. MOT work when necessary and services are being delayed or ignored alltogether. Although I am very competitive with larger garages and main dealers, business is becoming slow and my outgoings are increasing. Other bigger garages seem to also be suffering with the slow down. Fuel prices and taxes are destroying the motor industry and peoples livelyhood. It seems all fuel and energy providers continually increase energy prices even though they appear to make record profits each year. My wife and I do not have an exitic lifestyle. I am just trying to do an honest days work for an honest days pay. It's no longer enough to keep our heads above water. We are struggling.
I'm sure we are not alone. Something has to be done to bring back a quality of life to everyday people?
