Er, isn't that racism?

Definitions of racism:
noun: discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of another race

Surely instead of wringing hands about how many 'ethnic'candidates are employed - we should be more concerned as regard to the best man/woman for the job? Do they think this will secure the ethnic vote? Why oh why does everything have to sink to this level?
Whilst I was once running a company of around 60 employees, I agreed to do a telephone survey about employment. Coincidentally, it was an Asian gentleman who conducted said survey. After the usual 'how many employees?, how many days per week?' etc, I was asked the question of 'how many employees do you have of ethnic origin?' I replied 'none'. I was then subjected to a lecture on racial equality. Indications of how I was possibly a racist, and much more. When the gentleman finished, he then asked me why I hadn't employed anyone froman ethnic minority.
Because they never applied, was my answer.
