double standards
Published: Thursday June 26,2008 by Shell22
When someone applies for any kind of benefit, the department of work & pensions, job centre etc, ask for every single kind of proof that can be provided, eg. rent books, proof of savings. They scrutinise a claimants life, and rightly so, in order for checks into fraudulent claims to be picked up on and the taxpayers money is not claimed illegally. Why then, can people who are paid a wage by the government not subject to the same scrutiny? How can they make claims and not have to surrender receipts? Why are they not immediately sacked? Surely this is theft? Im quite sure that if someone was claiming jobseekers/ family credit or whatever fraudulently, they would have all benefits stopped and be prosecuted for fraud and/or theft. I would also assume that the amount of benefit fraudulently claimed would be considerably less than the amounts being fraudulently claimed by some MPs. In the end, amounts don't matter, but surely the principle does? Taxpayers money, illegally claimed.
