In a few words:

TAX WAR ON BRITISH DRIVERS ONLY

Published: Tuesday July 1,2008 by Peter_Pan

This tax war is unfairly biased towards British drivers. IMHO foreign drivers do not pay their fair share of tax for driving on roads funded and maintained by British taxpayers.

Foreign drivers should:

1. be forced to apply and pay for a temporary driving permit at port of entry

2. be forced to buy a temporary VED licence at port of entry

3. be forced to pay British fuel duty on all fuel imported in their vehicle at port of entry (i.e.e mpty tank, no tax to pay)

4. be pursued as vigorously by traffic wardens, speed cops, GATSO operators etc as British drivers and not let off the hook if they leave the country before paying a fine

5. be forced to go through an MOT test at port of entry (unless they can provide evidence of a current, valid test of an equivalent standard).

Lets have a level playing field on British roads.

Foreign drivers should be treated equally with British drivers, NOT given more favourable treatment.
