If you had asked the Scots this question, before the Act Of Union, you would have got a resounding NO to an all British army, now they are quite happy and proud to fight in a UK army, there are Scots, Irish and Welsh along side the English in the British armed forces.
So yes I can see the day when citizens of all EU nations will be in a combined EU military.
We are no longer a world power, both NuLabour and the Tories back an EU military force. Which is why we are financing two super aircraft carriers, which will be future elements of an EU navy.
They are too big for a tiny island like us, but as part of an EU navy, with 400million people and a large land mass to defend, thats a different matter.
I would rather we remained independent, but with China and India, as possible enemies in the future then we will need a bigger defense force, and NATO no longer seems to work, if it ever did. And as we seem to have different foreign policies to the USA then NATO is fast becoming redundant anyway. Vis a vis, the Iraq and Afghan wars.
We certainly do not want future politicians drawing us into such wars again. Which could be inevitable in an alliance like NATO dominated by the powerful USA.
