Come on now we did not go to war to protect Britain? ? You sure about that, Neville Chamberlin was going backwards an forwards to Germany to try and avoid war , Germany had been building up its armed forces long before 1939, he came back waving a piece of paper saying 'peace in our time' I was at the airport with my parents when he came back, Germany did not keep their part of the agreement and marched in on Poland,it was then that we declared war as there would be no stopping of the German Military machine,our troops were fighting for this country and its people or else we would have been under the jackboot like many countries overrun in Europe
