Of course I sympathise with this poor lady - it's terrible she's losing the sight in one eye. However, although Lucentis is known to work for age-related macular degeneration, it isn't proven to work with the form of myopic macular degeneration which Mrs Fletcher has.

Incidentally, the local paper quotes the PCT for Bradford and Airedale as saying: “We do not routinely fund Lucentis for myopic choroidal neovascular degeneration as this condition falls outside NICE guidance.” In other words, they take the same view as the PCT in North Yorkshire.
