Now swine flu panic sweeps Britain

That might not be a woman panicking over swine flu. It might be that she has a large nose and can't afford cosmetic surgery. Perhaps the headline should be 'Price of beauty treatment soars to record levels.'
On the subject of pandemics it's no use panicking. Through the ages diseases have plagued mankind, (pun intended), and wiped out millions of people. Only a godless athiest society 'fears the reaper'. That's what faith is for, to console and support in tough times. If you think faith is pointless think about the 'placebo' and now the 'nocebo' effects. Not only can people be made well by believing they have been given the cure, but it now seems people can be made ill by believing they have the disease. So the power of the human mind to believe can have physical consequences. Have a little faith and if it's in God you trust then 'thy will be done' makes the outcome, whatever it is, easier to bear.
