In a few words: I am politically neutral, but favour a free enterprise mixed economy and where the state has to provide - it secures value for money and where private capital invests it must be with corporate responsibility. You can read my personal blog at; www.soapboxcorner.com I have a keen interest in the law and justice and its application.

Bazza has missed the point!

Published: Tuesday October 9,2007 by JRB

Very interesting, my friend Bazza wishes to vent his spleen on his perception of bias in the press during the Falklands war in 1983 and what Jon Snow reported at the time.

For the record I fully supported the war against Argentina to relieve the innocent people of the Falklands from a vicious dictatorship who used our people to try and prop up a bankrupt regime. On the sinking of the Belgrano I take a different point of view to Bazza, which I am happy to debate on another occasion.

My contribution over the Natasha Kaplinsky was to highlight how shallow the reporting of news has become and how a pretty news reader who can flirt with the camera has actually become the news - through her looks rather than talent.

On the issue of Zimbabwe and by the way Bazza - Darfur and of course Burma, North Korea and Iran, the international community has become limp and ineffective because between November 2002 and January 2003 the United Nations Security Council – once so united over resolution 1441 to give Iraq a final ultimatum, fell apart through a mixture politics and cowardice.

I am sure Bazza did not intend to suggest, the reporting of the news was less serious and more celebrity driven in 1983 than it is today, or did he? In any event I appreciate the debate.
