NEW AGE WINDOW TAX

Let us not pretend that either Greed or Guile is a new feature of human behaviour. The first Solar Tax (not applying exclusively to his lordship's Solar) was introduced as the Window Tax several centuries ago.
This (metaphorically) illuminating innovation not only raised grubby funds but managed to ruin some of the finest architecture in the land before it was stymied through the bricking up of the offending features.
Those Solar Pioneers, who have already spent heavily on solar technology, appear to have one alternative to becoming (the latest) martyrs to the predations of a Luddite government: they may dismantle or roof over their offending eco extravaganzas. Assuming that they have not already been recorded in this born-again Doomesday footnote.
Verily, there is Nothing New Under the Sun!
