"Me Too" Miasma

Published: Sunday June 3,2007 by Laurence

It is tragically symptomatic of Britain's political plight that the only alternative to "Those Who have no Concern about living in the Real World" is "Those Who have no Experience of living in the real World."
One way of establishing the essential difference between Conservative and Labour attitudes to education may indeed be to advocate "More of the same." It seems more likely that the disunity that appears to exist within the Conservative Party may actually be less damaging than the refusal to admit to a need for the provision of an educational pathway that actually matches the needs and aptitudes of those Britons who may one day restore Britain's declining intellectual standing in the world.
Access to an academically challenging and rigorous system of education is as much a moral right as support for those who cannot, or will not, avail themselves of whatever is provided in Dumbing Down programmes.
