Still Yesterday's Man

Published: Sunday June 10,2007 by Laurence

Perhaps it will eventually become clear that, from a truly English point of view, Mr Blair should always have been "Yesterday's Man" for the reason that he has only ever seen this country as a sliver of Europe.
The other members of the G8 team have clearly applied the "use-by Yesterday" rule and Britons can now only really hope that Mr Blair has not sacrificed whatever remained of Britain's independent identity in his parting dealings with the EU.
Even most football teams have the intelligence to appoint a captain who wants their side to win. Could British voters rise to this ambition at their next electoral opportunity?
