there shouldn't be a parole or early release. if someone is given a length of time to do, then that is what they should serve, then if they are guilty of 'bad' behaviour the time then should be extended, and why do they get all this soft treatment, i'm afraid this is just one more example of the terrible slippery slope that this once great country is on. God help 'our' future generations.I despair.

PRISONERS EARLY RELEASE

In principle they should have a chance of parole after serving 2/3rds with the proviso that no one can get parole or probation more than once in their lifetime. After that it's full term.
The current early release kerfuffle is nonsence since they were only released 18days before they would have been released anyway, which is neither here nor there, just the usual government incompetence.

It is quite obvious to a blind man and his dog, but not to this government, that all prisoners should serve the full term. There is no point in giving a prisoner a particular sentence, then they only serve half! As it is, law breakers are treated far too softly. All first degree murderers should be hanged. Also, drug dealers should be hanged. That would free up a lot of places in the prisons, and you would see a dramatic fall in murders and drug offences. No wonder the Americans laugh at our soft law situations, and our prisons are like hotels in comparison to their prisons! Also we should have a return to hard labour in the prison systems. The prisoners would not have the energy to cause riots and cost the tax payers billions! Unfortunately, the idiots we vote into office haven't got the guts or back-bone they were born with, so there will be no changes!

I had thought that remission was to be earned and not given as a right!
If knocking time of for Good Behaviour is not now done, then surely the sentences should reflect this, therefore a sentence of 4 years should be given for what was once a two year sentence!

Of course they should. You do the crime then you do the time. Sentences should be getting tougher rather than lighter as they are. Lock 'em up for 23 hours a day on bread and water and many would not reoffend.

OH YES THEY MOST CERTAINLY SHOULD AND MUST.
I hate all of these crimbo scumbags who want to live off the backs of all decent hard working citizens.
Why should they benefit without working for anything.
They rob, maim, kill, assault and all of them blame someone else or something, it is never their own fault. The longer that these lowlife druggy thugs are kept behind bars the better I like it.
We also must rid the judiciary of kookie cranky soft on crime judges who have not got a clue what living in the real world is all about.
Cram 10 into each cell and hose them down twice a day with cold water, do not let them out of their cells for anything and certainly do not give any privileges for anything. Treat them mean and they will not want to come back.
BRING BACK THE ROPE AND CAT O NINE TAILS

If a person gets sentenced to a stretch in prison, then they must serve the full term. Why give a sentence and then let them out after serving a far less time? These people are not stupid. They know when they get sentenced that they will be let out early. What a stupid question anyway. Who's the stupid ones. Them inside, or us fools out here????

I refer to my previous comments on similar subjects
We have lost the battle with the criminals. We cannot rehabilitate them unless they want it.
It does not matter if we release them early or on Tag or Parole. They will return to prison. So serving the full sentence keeps us safe from them for longer.
Most of them started their life of crime when they were under 18 years old.
By the time they mature it is to late for them. They will have a long list of previous convictions. No employer will give them a job, and who can blame them. We must enforce discipline on the criminals if not for their sakes but for the message it wil send to those who aspire to be like them.

What is good behavior, as if they had had that in the first place they would not be in prison. Get rid of it. I agree with emperorming the did the Crime so do the time.
Ther is NO JUSTICE in this country anymore this goverment has sold out the people by letting the humans right act be enforced purely for the criminals and morons of the country and not for the honest hardworking people.
the sooner this lot are consigned to history the better, but I will not hold my breath for the next lot who gets in to do anything about it.
It used to be The Government of the People for the People, but not anymore is is Government of the government for the government, and sod the people.

This Government has made a complete and utter MOCKERY of British Justice.
In my day there was a saying that sat heavily upon the minds of young men and was a valuable deterrent.
"DO THE CRIME - SERVE THE TIME ".
