why dont they set aside a room for muslims only. then the rest of the staff could eat their lunch in peace.
we really are heading to becoming a muslim country.

I am an Atheist. I am my own person, do not believe there is a higher being, just an excuse to control people. Can I tell the excessively rich they are sinners because the Church has now made it a sin.
I have never stood up when 'the Queen' has been played, I am as good as her and my ancestors were better people.
Respect all people and their beliefs yes, but not empose this on everyone. I believe this will cause more prejudcie one thing we have enough of.

I am not a Muslim why should I not eat my lunch in the office at my desk, are we going to tell the the fast food stores they can only open after 5pm so as not to upset these people are we going to force all stores to close untill after prayers on a friday so as not to uset the poor sensitive Muslims.
I also work in the Gulf and yes during Ramadan we are not allowed to smoke, drink water or eat any food out doors during the day.
If you break the law you face jail time, but we must remember that we are guest living in Muslim country.
But I live in a Christian country, our political masters would do well to remember that

I find this all quite Ironic and Sad.
This time last year I was working in the gulf in an office owned by a local company. As it was Ramadan I was not allowed to Eat, Drink water, have a smoke or drink a coffee.
If I had gone outside to smoke or drink a can of pop - I would have been arrested.
As I was in the country I got on with it and luckily I stayed at a hotel where I was allowed to order food in my room as long as I did not eat near the window.
One year on I am back home in the UK and I read a story like this.
I really have no beef with Islam or the followers of Islam, but I really do have a problem with it being pushed onto others in the UK but well meaning idiots.
Whatever next - perhaps we should allow rastafarians to light up spliff in the office as it is a core part of the ritual and beliefs? In fact its way past slaughtering a goat for me, I need a hill, perhaps the local park will do.
I will always respect another's religion - but I will refuse to adhere to it if it impacts as god intended. If it offends someone go and sit in a hotel room with the curtains shut.

Why the surprise?
This rotten treacherous lot have spent their whole time in office giving away our country,with its PC ,suicidal, 'open doors' policies to any or all immigrants,legal or otherwise.
Yet still they continue unchecked,without ANY opposition from a gutless Tory party,that hasn't a hope in hell of winning,because not one of them has the balls to pledge a complete and radical reform of current policy,in case they may be accused of Racism.
I believe that the whole of Parliament is guilty of treason !

THEY HAVE ALSO BANNED CHRISTMAS IN SOME EAST END SCHOOLS

In some schools in Newham. The turkey was taken off the christmas menu in case it offends the majority of Muslims in the schools. The minority who are anglo British were not aloud to have turkey or have a christmas tree, No hymns nor nativity play or send christmas cards. The cards had to have on them seasons greetings, So my cousins children were taken out of that school, changed their religion and then went to a catholic school. It got so bad that when England were playing. the children were not aloud to show the flag of st george. But when the ethnic majorities country had won at cricket, flags were taken into school and it was celebrated openly. I thought we were suppose to respect other peoples cultures, And that was meant for every culture?

i cant believe that muslims would complain about something so trivial as doctors eating their lunch at their desks,more like some pc wally that woke up one morning with a pc brainstorm .when will these people realise that all they are doing is causing segregation between muslims and christians ,which ends up in racism.our grandparents fought a war to give the people the right to freedom and not to live under a dictator ship,the british people have bent over backwards to accomadate the people of the muslim faith ,allthough their are exstemists who would like the uk to be a muslim state ,and alli have to say to them is ,no one makes you stay in this country your free.

ban islam as it offends anybody in their right mind. women should be respected unconditionally, their 'respect' is not respect at all. human beings should only be shown little/no resoect when they harm or kill. doctors should revolt against the dictatorship and we as a nation need to put a stop to that unacceptable cult, before it is too late!

NHS Lothian and Ramadan - Statement
THERE is no question - despite reports in the national and local media - that staff in NHS Lothian have been ordered not to eat at their desks for fear of offending Muslim colleagues. Nor is there any question that NHS Lothian will be moving vending machines.
However NHS Lothian has a duty to be sensitive to needs of people of all faiths and no faith.
This story stems from an email sent to NHS Lothian and other health boards by a private public affairs consultancy. This email gave helpful background information to organisations across Scotland about Ramadan, a major Muslim religious celebration.
The email contained information on the requirements placed on Muslim colleagues and patients in observing Ramadan.
It contained a couple of suggestions for maintaining productivity. It suggested that working lunches could be difficult for Muslim colleagues who would be fasting, if observing the celebration. It also suggested organisations should consider, if felt appropriate, temporarily changing the route of food trolleys to be sensitive to colleagues who adhere to the Muslim faith. These suggestions - not orders - have been greatly exaggerated in the media and given a force they do not have.
The email was forwarded to a small number of senior managers across NHS Lothian for background information only.
It was not forwarded as a policy directive, nor was it in any way an official NHS Lothian document.

Strange that, with such a sensational story, no other news outlet has picked it up.
Stranger still that no-one actually working in the NHS has ever heard anything about it.
Shame the once great Daily Express should sink the the level of the gutter in this way.

The vast majority of people in this country are not Muslim, we give them multi-faith rooms in workplaces, make allowances for garb etc Fine. What next, women must not wear skirts or have bare arms incase it is offensive.
The issue is primarilly with politically correct do-gooders. They bend over backwards so far they have tied themselves into a knot.
