Call to re-develop brownfield sites

Ministers must ensure that moves to make new homes environmentally-friendly do not discourage development, a Government-commissioned review of housing has urged.

DEVELOPMENT OF BROWNFIELD SITES

22.11.07, 8:03pm

It is a good idea to use brownfield sites but the cost to develop on these sites is generally hirer than green sites because of polution. Many brown sites which have been sites of past industrial use have been contaminated with various toxins from the industrial activeties od the past.
The cost of decontamination of the sites for housing development is very high and the profit margines minimal for the developer. The notion of using brownfield sites for developing affordable homes for low income workers is flawed. Some brownfield sites where old housing states (slums) once stood are generally free from contamination but these are far and few for the amount of housing that is required. There are hundreds of acres owned by major super market companys on the outskirts of towns that can be used for housing development.....Ruth Kelly should be looking into this area and talking to the owners.
Ruth Kelly will be a failure at this idea as she has been a failure in her previous government posts.

NO,NO,NO

You're so wrong, because the invaders do not take Indigenous Brit Jobs; they only take jobs that lazy Indigenous Brits don’t want. The invaders don’t abuse or impose upon Indigenous Brits Welfare system. The invaders don’t use the Indigenous Brits health care. The invaders most certainly do not take Indigenous Brits social Housing. The Invaders are most certainly not given priorities over the Indigenous Brits.

Kelly, Johnson, Haine, Brown, Hutton and the rest of the mob say so. Reinforced by Cameron and his gangsters.

So you must be wrong...

LIZBETH

I couldn't agree more, it breaks my heart to see so much countryside butchered to provide housing for people that don't belong here.

Any house building should be on brownfield sites, the kind that are ignored in favour of green sites on a daily basis for 'economic reasons'.

CALL TO RE-DEVELOP

22.11.07, 5:14pm

We will just be building for ever more immigrants.
Why bother.
If you think any of these homes will go to the indigenous English, dream on.
The effects of the disgraceful proposals for 3 million new homes and the concreting over of this once green and pleasant land will be shocking. More pressure on roads, schools, hospitals and social infrastructure and it must be halted. To do so you have to forget the lib/lab/con and vote for a party who will do something positive.
