Hain refuses to quit over donations

PETER Hain last night brushed aside calls to quit and said it was absurd to suggest he had tried to cover up undeclared donations of £100,000.

HAIN REFUSES TO QUIT OVER DONATIONS

19.01.08, 9:39am

How much longer are we going to listen to Mr Hain's excuses. He was one of the team who put forward this ruke in the first place and first and foremost should have made sure that every angle was covered before he started his campaign. His own party officials in the Welsh Valleys do not have faith in his excuses, so there is a good start. Gordon Brown wont say a bad word about him as there is more than enough sleeze in his new government already after only a matter of months. The elctorate has had enough. Hain has got to go.

Peter Hain should go, if I made a mistake at work I would have been sacked, so he should go or Brown should sack him.

PETER HAIN, THE NEW CAPTAIN CLINGON?

13.01.08, 10:39pm

Work and Pensions Secretary Peter Hain has admitted, he failed to declare £103,000 in donations to his deputy leadership campaign and his lame excuse was, " I gave my campaign for office within the Labour Party second priority to my government responsibilities”.

Hain is in charge of a multi-billion pound departmental budget and yet, he cannot manage the expenses of a simple MPs office.

Peter Hain craves political attention and never misses an opportunity to place his face in front of TV cameras to court the British public. Now, his own conduct is in serious doubt, the normally charismatic MP has become very shy and retiring, he presents prepared written statements. This is an old dodge of “There's an enquiry and I will co-operate fully with the investigation”, whilst I scuttle around to see if I can limit the damage and save my political skin!

It has been reported, Mr Hain is making “immediate arrangements” to pay back a £25,000 loan from Willie Nagel, a diamond broker, which he received via PPF in October. Such a nefarious method of funding political elections is bound to cause a stink for a seasoned operator like Hain.

Hain is now putting the blame on aides, who are seemingly at war with each other. I think, a close look at UK Election Law and the strict rules governing members interests in the House of Commons and you will find it's down to the candidate personally and the member personally, to make full and transparent declarations, not aides or ad visor's.

Peter Hain is no different to many politicians, who succumb to the public's distrust in an ever evolving culture of political sleaze and deceit. His current behaviour is so typical of yet another arrogant politician clinging on to his grace and favour lifestyle.

Why do Ministers always wait for further damaging revelations to emerge before we hear their plaintiff cry, “I resign to protect my government and my party”.

This failure to take personal responsibility, attracts the worst of the public's venom and encourages our disdain and generic distrust of all politicians.

THREE CHEERS FOR PETER!

13.01.08, 9:45pm

I am so sorry about my earlier sarcasm! Let me explain.

What I really meant is that Hain is a liability for Labour. That is why I want Labour to fight the next General Election with Hain at the helm. Labour would then score even less votes than it did under Kinnock. Good riddance.

If you read my earlier post again, you will see that I never said they could win!

ARE THEY IN THE RIGHT JOB?

13.01.08, 6:58pm

Government ministers are there to look after our interests but they apparently are incaple of looking after their own affairs.
One says he did not know about ithe £100,000 , like the one previously who had £ 300,000, around that figure anyway ,in her bank account not knowing how it got there.
It really fills one with confidence ,no wonder this country is in such a dreadfull mess with people not knowing their left hand is doing from their right

HAIN REFUSES TO QUIT OVER HIDDEN DONATIONS.

13.01.08, 6:38pm

Hands up everyone whom thinks Hain is innocent of corruption, dishonesty, what !, not one of you.
Every single person whom I have debated this thoroughly blatant dishonest act with believes Hain knew exactly what he was doing, should fall on his sword and also be prosecuted.
Judas Jock McBrown is fining us for everything trivial now he has this major swindle he will try to sweep it under the carpet and hope it goes away.
Let us be rid of this filthy misgovernment for good.
