ANOTHER CLUELESS COW IN GOVERNMENT

06.02.08, 1:06am

How do these thick women get such powerful positions?

There are many people living in Council houses by choice, many of them working.

Old Labour did not believe in the sale of such houses, yet this woman thinks everyone in a council house must be scamming the Goverment.

I'm sitting here laughing my bits off, cos of the cheek of this woman.

I wonder if her expenses claim include 20k for a London flat like Jock McBroon?

That 20k he claims, is the equivalent of about 6 peoples Jobseekers allowance for one year.

And, out of that, they have to pay for gas, electric, food and everything else.

This Government is clearly taking the p*ss.

Another poster on here (sorry, didn't get the name before typing this) said about the gas chambers and concentration camps....

That likely will come when they want to clear the streets of the homeless people kicked out of their council houses.

No doubt they are clearing people out of these properties to allow more immigrants and migrants in.

Difference is, they cost more, cos they get their gas, electric, water etc paid for, and benefit ON TOP OF THAT!! i.e. costing more than the £59 per week Jobseekers allowance.

What is it about this Government that makes them hate the British people this much??

I just wish I could win the lottery to get out of this sh*thole.

BASHING THE MINORITY

05.02.08, 9:11pm

That’s it keep BASHING THE MINORITY, being those MOST VULNERABLE IN SOCIETY... This only deflects from the REAL ISSUES.. Being MILLIONS OF CHILDREN ARE ENDURING HORRENDOUS HOUSING CONDITIONS, not to mention being OVERCROWDED? Which CONSECUTIVE GOVERNMENTS have treated such issues with contempt and hide behind 1935 OUTDATED DEFINITIONS. This is ill thought out, because those evicted will either become homeless or in B&B at higher costs to the state. GOVERNMENT BULLYING will not work.

It’s a life of leisure and luxury isn’t it?

Why should the rest of us bankrolled up to a million skivers, paying them dole, subsidising their housing, when they need a kick up their back sides and I reckon few would argue with that. There is clearly a problem; the number of unemployed council tenants has risen from 20% to 55% since 1981, which is huge jump. The problem is kicking people out of their homes the answer, what would happen to them, the family of four, mum, dad and 2 children, seems a little harsh on the children who are more than likely to be already suffering poor conditions, don’t you think? The alternative would be to rehouse the family into expensive B&B type accommodation, because council have a legal obligation to house families. Now call me cynical, but I suspect that such plans would be unworkable and would in fact generate far greater problems.

Maybe for a start we should be asking so many questions, like what on earth have they been doing to the last ten years and why are proposed plans to build social housing, based upon time gaps of 20 years? Why not now, but then have you noticed Government plans are based upon 20 years, why?

But then the Conservatives sold off large social housing stocks on the understanding that monies from the sales would be reinvested back into social housing and of we all know this not to be the case, In fact they have taken the money and either stock piled the cash or simply wasted it elsewhere. It most certainly was not reinvested; hence we currently have a massive housing shortage, which is growing at alarming rates.

The council housing stock left behind is terrible, dilapidated, old fashioned and need the regeneration invested as was promised by consecutive Governments. I have a friend round the corner from me when I go there, I haven’t met any other tenant who speaks English, and this must reinforce the facts that council homes are favoured for the migrants.
But we have endured a generation of English children that have been offered low standards of education and most certainly have not been offered genuine opportunities.

It would be nice for one of our Government Minister to stand straight with a taught backbone and say “We except that council house condition are appalling and they have been for the last 40 years, that’s why they are epicentres of crime and deprivation. So we are going to knock them all down and rebuild decent housing, in which people can regain self worth and pride in the areas in which they live. This was recently done in Birmingham and the results have clearly shown a dramatic difference, so it works.

But then also why should families who have a household income of over 50,000pa, who could clearly afford private renting, or even a mortgage, take up a property that could help someone not in such a comfortable position, surely this must be wrong also?

Why are councils allowing under accommodated, which allows sometime one or two people to live in a 3 / 4 bedroom council house? Council homes are mainly for those less fortunate to raise a family, but once the children have moved on, then the parents should downsize.

So many issues should be addressed and most certainly, questions with reference to Government Accountability and Responsibility should also be investigated. Not to mention that the Council Housing riddled with favouritism, manipulation and distortion, should also be open to far greater scrutinises.

Could this just be yet another ploy to deflect responsibility by Government and Local Authorities, from addressing the real issues, which they seem unprofessional and incompetent do so?

YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO SAY THAT!

05.02.08, 7:38pm

To do as she has said, every law with regard to the rights and responsibilities of councils with regard to homelessness etc would have to be recinded and replaced. This is another soundbite along the linbes of giddy Gordons pledge of " British people for British Jobs".

I am at the stage that I cannot believe anything that comes out of a ministers mouth.

And thats the very polite version of what I want to say...!

JUAT HAD ANOTHER THOUGHT ON THE SUBJECT

05.02.08, 7:23pm

If people are not working and living on public money, how different is that from politicians subsidising their relatives, making high claims for second homes for which the taxpayer is
paying. Second homes and they intend to throw people out of the only one they have, to where?
All the perks come out of taxpayers money, the little jollies on fact finding missions when we never get to hear what facts and how did the jjourneys benefit us,lots of tricks of the trade we never hear about ,not forgetting the Blairs taking an RAF plane and crew to go on their holidays, all justifiable expenditure, nice work if you can get it. Caroline Flint should be looking nearer home and get something done about the systems,no good treating the symptoms and overlooking the causes, the system gets milked because it can be, its wrong yes,but until it is changed it will stay that way

ANOTHER IDIOTIC IDEA

05.02.08, 7:21pm

What has the house you live in got to do with whether you work or not. Admittedly there are a lot of people who don't work bu have got trapped in the system.

Firstly the government should STOP paying benefits to Muslim men for more than one wife. They wouldn't do that for the rest of us would they?

Next they should stop paying child benefit to immigrants who have their children in other countries.

Then they should kick all immigrants from outside the EU off benefits unless they have conformed to the rules. i.e. work for one year before entitled to benefits.

Oh and finally perhaps stopping all immigration would ensure there were some jobs to go to for those who are able to work BUT never, never should they pick on people who live in social housing like this.

There's plenty of people living in private accomodation who don't work AND they cost the system a lot more money because of much higher rents, but if this idiot government has it's way therir numbers will be increased OR will they be living in the streets?

FLINT + ANYTHING = DISASTER

05.02.08, 6:08pm

What a complete waste of time this disagreeable woman is, if this is the new face of labour then you can keep it!!!!! What exactally is she intending to do with this wave of homeless people she is going to create??? reserve places on park benches??? I know MS flint have you ever thought of concentration camps, or gas chambers even that would do it and it would reduce the numbers of unemployed!!!!You really are a stupid woman, perhaps if you and your fellow MP's stopped lining your own pockets with vast expenses that you fiddle out of the system then you could tackle issues like unemployment more effectively. Get real ,get working for the people who pay your wages Plus fiddles or get out.

HOUSING PLAN

05.02.08, 6:01pm

Does this woman live in a council house surrounded by our "friends from over the sea"?
No? Then she should do the same as most of her allies should do - shut the f**k up and go back to school(sorry, won`t learn anything there)or back to University(sorry, same applies) or seek advice from her relatives and friends. She hs done ? Oh dear.We do seem to have a problem. What can be done ? I have a few suggestions but unfortunately they are unprintable.
One printable version is what would happen if 50,000 people marched to No.10 and threw bricks through the windows?Maybe Brown couldn`t afford to pay for property insurance! In which case he would have to dig into his own pocket!Sorry, forget that one-he`d introduce a "Damage caused by upset Brits" tax.

COUNCIL HOUSING

05.02.08, 4:38pm

My Mother & Father lived in Council housing and worked all their lives. As my Father was in the second wave at Normandy, I always saw it as their right. They were Law abiding and I suppose, good Citizens. It is a fact that there are still a lot of people about, who fall into the above category, but we have to accept that there are habitual spongers, who make it their lifes work, to screw every penny from a system that allows them to and it is the taxpayer who foots the bill. The Government would be better off looking at measures that can be enforced. It is obvious that this latest soundbite is nothing but rhetoric. It would cost more to put them up in a B&B or hotel, than leave them where they are. Why not put a bounty on benefit cheats, instead of just saying "shop a scrounger" and leaving it up to the public goodwill to do their job for them? Give some monetary incentive, (after all they are going to save a lot of money, thanks to the caller) All these schemes would not apply to Muslim's of course, who will obviously be immune from having to look for work. I know that goes without saying, but thought I would anyway. Don't care if anybody disagrees with anything I've said either, I'm a taxpayer and as I'm helping to pay for some of the workshy wastrels, I see it as my right to have my say. Also it was one of the rights my Dad fought for and I will not apologise for using it.

YET ANOTHER DUMB MINISTER WAY OUT OF HER DEPTH

05.02.08, 2:31pm

And making herself look stupid. Take your foot out of your mouth.

As Rusty is on the right track, kick out those on Housing Benefit - they can live in the street, oh wait, no, they can go and stay in Flint's home, being the good socialist she is I'm sure she'd open her home to the homeless, what, she isn't doing this already??? What a hypocrite!

Then there will be more homes for the ILlegals, who can live 10 or 20 to a home.

And she is a member of the Fabian Society, which is bad.

C HOW U R?

05.02.08, 12:51pm

The goal posts keep changing, look here: http://www.express.co.uk/search/housing/ and see for yourself.

But nobodies ask: What about the reinvestment in social housing, you know the millions Governments obtained from selling housing stock. What about the reinvestment in the run –down council estates?

Why do some assume that life in a council home, on a council estate is a luxury? Have you tried it, do you know what you’re talking about? What about if you lose your home, will social housing be in place for you?

Do you think this is constructive to bully people? Did you know that what Flint is proposing is illegal and not enforceable in law? Ill thought through and nothing more than headline grabbing, which unprofessional and irresponsible.

Should such a despicable action take place, watch and notice as tax payers will then be paying for B&Bs, not to mention the increases in crime rates.

I love the phrase “Social Responsibility” being bandied around, hey! What about “Government Responsibility and Accountability”?

Take a look and you might learn something:

MAKES ME LAUGH

05.02.08, 12:49pm

When the Tories were in power, the left wing championed the unemployed. Said that they were poor souls who were crying out for work and we stopped by the evil government.

Now those same left wingers ARE the government, their opinion of the unemployed seems to have changed. No longer are the unemployed martyers, thrown on the scrap heap of capitalism.

They're NOW "workshy layabouts" people who "don't want to do the jobs that immigrants will" and all other manner of insults.

Another example of the quite stunning hypocricy of the left wing who use the working class when it suits them and drop them like a hot potato if it contradicts with their overall aims of Internationalism and Globalism.

"NO BETTER OFF WORKING"

05.02.08, 11:46am

The comment "would be no better off working so what's the point" makes me want to spit feathers. What about pride in yourself, and not sponging off anyone else, being able to stand on your own two feet? Maybe one job doesn't pay enough, so do what I did, get three jobs, working 8am-5pm in an office, then 5.30-9pm packing cards (Mon-Fri) then waitressing Saturday & Sunday.

LABOUR WRONG AGAIN

05.02.08, 11:45am

Why can't the Labour govt realise that they are the main cause of unemployment in this country?

Unemployed people cannot get jobs except where job vacancies exist. As there are damn-all job vacancies out there, there is really no point in Ms Flint asking anyone to sign a stupid piece of paper.

The solution to unemployment is for the govt to stop taxing the economy to extinction.
