ARTICLE SUMMARY

How are we supposed to make a living in Brown's Britain?

Do you know what really winds me up? The price of chocolate bars these days.

25P CHOC BARS.

25.04.08, 5:57pm

Yes I remember.
And I also remember when the bank manager (the old guy with a pipe) wouldnt lend you anything that you couldnt easily pay back.
Today you have to feel so sorry for young couples who have bought homes in the past 2 years. They have been "sold a pup".
The tv media must take some of the blame, with endless programmes hyping up property, and the general air of "you must get on the ladder now". These programmes should come with a health warning.
In future estate agents should be forced to show a history of British house prices to first time buyers, plus a history of price-to- earnings multiples. Estate agents can be pretty good at the old bull....
This would give first time buyers a much clearer picture of whether the price is cheap, fair, high or lethal. they can then make a better decision.
It would also stop the rest of us trying to enslave them.
The 400 grand London semi eh. 700,000 loaves, or 40 quid a brick, or 11 times the mans income....disaster.
If the poor old Conservatives came to power now, they'd have to try and sort out the biggest mess in history.
All the major banks in a virtual state of collapse, a continuing house-price fall, a debt balloon the size of Australia, rampant crime and disorder.
Bring back the old guy with the pipe, and the 25p choc bar.
PS...."Twister"...is that a choc bar or Gordon Browns nickname.

LIFE TWISTED BY CROOK CORRUPT POLITICIANS!

25.04.08, 9:05am

In 1980's, when the price of a twin bar of TWIX was 15p., I was able to get 2 bars of twin TWIX for 25p.

Since Maggie came into power, the public have been constantly been looted on the pretext that there is not enough money to pay for the road, rail, NHS, police, etc., whereas these crook corrupt politicians have made millions by introducing stealth taxes and their "legalised" allowances.

The money collected from the road tax and the taxes on fuel has been diverted to line the pockets of these mafia gangsters, most of whom are in lawyers/barristers.

BACK TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS

24.04.08, 5:02pm

Takes you back to the good old days! Some of us remember the good old days of Harold Wilson/James Callaghan’s Labour Governments between 1974 and 1979. Then inflation soared. Inflation in 1976 was at 16%. The London Stock Exchange index more than halved in 1975, the worst ever year for shares. A strike at Ford produced a pay settlement of 17%. The engineering union asked for 33%, the miners 40%. Continuing pay demands culminated in September of 1978 when the Winter of Discontent began and public sector workers started their strike leaving rubbish bags rotting in the streets. The country rejected Labour in a big way and chucked them out into the wilderness where they remained for the next 18 years. Sounds like history repeating itself to me. You can never trust Labour with the economy.

No return to boom and bust, says Gormless. What a hoax you are, Mr Brown!
