40% ON GAS AND ELECTRIC BILLS

09.05.08, 8:41am

Seems that every time there's more bad news for brown & co, i.e. record low ratings in opinion polls, or whatever, they just slap another tax hike on us as punishment.

MEDICINE

08.05.08, 7:41pm

The audacity of the government stating that inflation is at 2% whilst giving themselves a 25% pay increase maybe they should realise that they are the illness of this country and the people are the medicine that will eventually make them better.

The political parties are not in it for the people they are in it for them self creaming the money and making us feel paranoid about where the next penny comes from.
If this countries government was not in bed with America we would be better off as a nation.

WHEN DID DICTATOR PRUDENCE U-TURN BROWN LAST PAY A UTILITY BILL?

08.05.08, 7:21pm

Pensioners in England cannot afford to heat their homes properly now, without any further increases in gas and electricity charges.

Dictator Prudence U-Turn Brown certainly has a wish that all our elderly people die early.

Single mothers in England cannot afford to heat their damp and cheerless homes properly.

THE ONLY BUILDINGS STANDING IN ENGLAND THAT ARE OVER-HEATED ARE GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND THE HOMES OF MINISTERS.

Get real Dictator Prudence U-Turn Brown. You have killed-off the English economy, you are killing-off countless thousands of elderly people prematurely - and do you care? NO. NOT ONE LITTLE BIT.

The electorate are all sick-to-death of the blatant hypocrisy generated by Downing Street.

GAS & ELECTRIC BILLS.

I bet the immigrants claiming asylum aren't bothered about this 40% increase as they have these bills paid for them by us mug tax payers.

WAKE UP BRITAIN

08.05.08, 1:44pm

As an englishman who grew up in 40s and 50s England and raised his kids in the 60s and 70s I wonder if you realise how good you have it in Britain. I live in the USA and pay 3 times as much for gas and electricity as the consumer in Britain, on average my power bills are $500 per month or 250 pounds, please note per month not per quarter as in UK. I am not complaining as I choose to live in the US and have done well here because I worked hard and took chances, but I have no free health care and the welfare system is negligible and harsh. My children have no income support or tax credits sick pay or all the other handouts available in the UK.Britain needs to stop supporting the falsley sick, the fraudulently lame and the genuinely LAZYand like the US stay out of other nations business, but wake up Britain you dont know how lucky you are

EU ENERGY RIP OFF....

08.05.08, 1:19pm

Funny to think the unelected broon is at present busy flogging our nuclear generation infrastructure of to the Germans.

The whole thing is an excercise to demoralise us so we can be swallowed by the anti-democratic despotic EU more easily. Well..don't get unhappy , get angry. Keep getting more and more angry at the illegal hijacking of our country by our treasonous MP's. We want our referendum.

Also bear in mind that what we are seeing is not crude getting more expensive. We are seeing the price in Dollars, which is plummeting due to the feds interest rate reductions, currently down to 2%.

The real price of oil is not very different and given the strength of the Euro at present is possibly cheaper in real terms than it was. We are very definitely being ripped off quite badly by our European "FRIENDS".

Better Off Out.

A Pox On Traitors.

UTILITIES SCAM THE NATION

08.05.08, 11:10am

Now we know why those with any sense were against privatisation back in the 80's. free market indeed , the fat cats are screwing everyone over a barrel , even the tory voters.

The sooner this country gets back to being self sufficient in power production the better.

GLOBAL WARMING FREAKS HAVE ANOTHER SUCCESS

08.05.08, 10:10am

It is a stated and clear aim of those who promote the fairy tale of global warming that fuel prices must rise. So they are doing so, as the Labour government believes in fairies and supports them.

NATIONALISE ALL THE SERVICES

08.05.08, 9:37am

I must assume the supplies etc are only going to make about 5/6/7/billion this year it is terrible for them.

The only answer is to take back control of these services. Boot out the EU buyers and sellers of these essential services and let our young and old feel warm again this winter.

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR LABOUR TO CUT OUR TAXES?

08.05.08, 9:03am

With VAT charged at 5% on gas and electricity this increase will be a nice little earner for Gormless Brown. No doubt he will quickly come forward and offer a 40% discount on the VAT charge.

Oh no, I forgot, pigs don't fly.

TERRIBLE

08.05.08, 8:58am

This is terrible news, especially for people on low incomes. Many people will have to choose between cold homes or empty larders this winter.

Hands up who's still voting Labour.

This country will rue the day it decimated its coal industry.
Maybe that day is here.
