The Queen backs Turkey’s EU bid... but should we?

IT IS often said that the Queen is not political, but here in Turkey in the last few days she has endorsed one of Gordon Brown’s most controversial policies.

IS TURKEY AN EU COUNTRY?

17.06.08, 3:37pm

Why would the Queen support/back Turkey's bid to join the EU? Strictly speaking Turkey isn't a European country in the sense of what we know as Europe, i.e. mainly a group of Christian countries with more or less the same set of values and standards?? Turkey is to all intents and purposes a Muslim country with Muslim values and standards. The Queen is head of our Church of England, and has nothing in common with Turks. Her blind headlong rush to do the bidding of our corrupt government baffles me. She is set to be the Monarch who will go down in history as havinmg signed away the British monarchy in favour of a Federal European State. The same FES which currently calls for the abolition of the British Monarchy.

THE WORLD IS CHANGING

20.05.08, 4:50pm

The world is changing, and England will change with it even if the English may have to be dragged kicking and screaming down the corridors of time into the brave new multi-cultural mish-mash world of tomorrow in which what you have been conditioned to think of as alien cultures will be interwoven into the very fabric of what by then you may conceivably no longer be pleased to refer to as your national life. In a hundred years from now what will England look like? Not my problem, as I am not English.

As the principal lingua franca of the planet is English as a result of your past imperialist ventures and adventures and England through UK membership is in the European Union, England is and will remain a highly convenient gateway to the opportunities that the prosperous English-speaking world offers even if many immigrants' preferred ultimate destination is not and will not be England, of course. Why settle for Wigan when you could have Winnipeg? Cold winters, I know, but splendid for most of the year.

It is your fate to disappear beneath the waves of immigration that are beating against your shores. Accept it. Why worry about what you cannot change? It could not happen to a nicer bunch of people. And the best of British luck to you.

SORRY MA'AM BUT YOU'VE GOT IT WRONG

20.05.08, 4:21pm

Her Majesty's support for Turkey's EU membership bid is hard to understand. I feel that she has not been best advised in getting involved in this highly sensitive issue. We hear today reports of the exodus of Britons looking for a better life elsewhere due in part no doubt to the collapse of immigration controls under NuLabour, multiculturalism etc etc. This will only get worse as more leave and the government decides to let yet more immigrants in to replace them leading to a vicious circle of national decline. The Monarchy is presiding over this appalling state of affairs and I am deeply disappointed with the Queen's judgement on this issue. So what about us your subjects Ma'am? Loyalty is, after all, a two way street! Enough is enough.

THE QUEEN BACKS TURKEY'S EU BID

20.05.08, 10:03am

We have to withdraw from the EU. Truth is we should never have joined in the first place.

Until the British people unite and force this bunch of Lunatics in Government to understand that we have a say and we are at the end of the line with Immigration and Asylum, there is no hope for us.

We need mass deportation of all and I meand all the people who have no right to be here we are just going to be walked all over.

You just have to see the number of people leaving the UK,they cannont all be looking for the sunshine. Truth is they are getting out because they know this country has had it.

Heaven help us.

IMMIGRATION DISASTER

20.05.08, 7:44am

If Turkey joins the EU millions of muslims will have the right to settle in the UK and within the next 10 to 20 years the islamization of the UK will be virtually complete. Its a nightmare waiting to happen and spells the end of what is left of any social harmony in this country. The UK has already been devastated by the Eastern European influx particularly from Poland who are settling here in their millions not thousands!
This government has allowed millions of immigrants settle here and the situation is probably already irreversible. The total destruction of any semblence of the British culture has been gradually eroded by greedy politicians and they are hell bent on totally wiping out what remains. Turkey in the EU is an absolute unmitigated disaster!

IITS ALL ABOUT OIL - SURPRISE,SURPRISE!

19.05.08, 9:57pm

The World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have provided vast amounts of debt finance to the Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. Turkey is a key conduit for oil and gas from Kazakhstan and Azarbaijan and many mulitnational oil companies are involved. Effectively a deal has been done between EU politicians, energy companies and the Turkish government under which access to oil and gas is traded in exchange for Turkey's admission to the EU. This is what it is all about. (As with Iraq we cannot be told the truth) This development doubtless forms part of the globalisation blue-print designed in secret by the oil and bank dominated Bilderbergers, the Council for Foreign Relations and the Tri-lateral Commission. As long as our politicians owe their allegiance to these shadowy and unaccountable organisations rather than to us the people, this diabolical state of affairs is bound to continue.

NO MORE HERE PLEASE

19.05.08, 6:14pm

Tell Gordon Brown to do something right for the indigenous people of this country and put up the "House Full" notice if they jolin the EU and think of making their way here.
We cannot accommodate any more and we do not want to build more housing for them, we need less people not more houses, except for our peopled that have been on the waiting lists for homes. Those riding on the gravy train in Brussels do not have to put up with the problems here so Mr Brown, you know what to do,tell the EU it is just not on anymore

NO, NO, NO, MORE TURKEY & I DON'T MEAN FOR XMAS

19.05.08, 3:10pm

Firstly, it has always been known that the Royal family desist from commenting on political matters, so why is Queenie now sticking her oar in on this one?Secondly, !% of Turkey is in Europe, the other 99% is in Asia, so why is it even being considered for inclusion into the EU?  If successful will the name be changed from the EU to E/AU and where does it stop, North Africa next? There enough problems with people being in the whole of the EU who should not be there without opening the door to further abuse.  I'm with the French on this, keep them out, and if you talk with any Germans they will tell you the same thing, and why.
