Most gamers will agree that 2023 was a remarkable year for gaming. So many fantastic games launched over the course of the year, from big-budget blockbusters like and , to superb indie games such as Cocoon and Slay the Princess. Nintendo treated us to new releases like and , as well as high-profile remakes for Metroid Prime and Super Mario RPG. Then there are titles like Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2, which topped many game of the year lists come the end of December. With so many brilliant games to choose from, it's only natural that some deserving titles may have gone slightly under the radar. I would argue that exclusive 16 kind of falls into this category, launching to less fanfare than the series usually commands. I'm not saying it was completely overlooked and ignored, but I'm sure quite a few people (myself included) decided to leave it for another day. Having since played Final Fantasy 16 and thoroughly enjoyed it, I would suggest that there has never been a better time to grab a copy, especially now that it's down to its cheapest price at Argos.

In a tale that's more Game of Thrones than classic Final Fantasy, FF16 sees players explore the dark fantasy world of Valisthea as Clive Rosfield. It's also at its cheapest price at Argos.

Clive Rosfield

Indeed, the UK retailer has slashed the price of the Square Enix action role-playing game to just £24.99.

That's well over half-price for a triple-A PlayStation 5 blockbuster that earned a massive 87% rating over on Metacritic.

Argos customers can choose to click and collect the game, or even opt for same-day delivery in selected areas.

If you're looking for something to play over the weekend (and beyond), then Final Fantasy 16 is a solid choice.

While it has the DNA of a classic Final Fantasy game, it's also got a much darker tone. It's kind of like Final Fantasy meets Game of Thrones.

Set in the dark fantasy world of Valisthea, players control the character of Clive Rosfield in a tale full of betrayal, tragedy and revenge.

"Enter the dark fantasy world of Valisthea in this highly anticipated single-player action RPG," reads the official description.

"Play as Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria and guardian of his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Eikon Phoenix, in this epic action RPG from a team of Final Fantasy veterans."

As the blurb points out, those classic Final Fantasy summons are now known as Eikons. These beings are housed within people known as Dominants, which essentially means they can summon their powers.

It all leads to some absolutely epic battles with some of the flashiest visuals we've seen on the PS5 to date.
