MINNIE DRIVER: SEASTORIES

Story Image

Actress and singer Minnie Driver is a conformist musician

Friday May 2,2008

DRIVER’S take on first-person soul-baring is better traced back to Emmylou Harris than Joni Mitchell.

The singer/actress seems hell-bent on rootsy conformity rather than plunging into the unknown, as Mitchell used to do.

The songs aren’t bad, though not particularly hooky, and Driver’s voice frays nicely on cue to Ryan Adams’s backing band, The Cardinals.
