The impressive new Palm Centro

Saturday April 26,2008

By James Murray

The Palm Centro, a genuine rival for Apple's impressive iPhone, has finally hit shelves in the UK.

The £199 unit, which gives you voice, text, email and web, has a touchscreen - just like the iPhone - and a full Blackberry-style keyboard.

Weighing the same as the Treo 500, the 120 gram (4.2 oz) Palm Centro also has an impressive 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD expandable memory and a multimedia player.

It is  available in Ruby and Onyx and measures 4.22 x 2.11 x 0.73 inches (107 x 54 x 18.5mm) and has 3.5 hours talktime with up to 12 days standby time.

It has web contact and calendar capabilities, a full-colour touch screen and full keyboard, text messaging with a chat-style view and an ability to store names, numbers, appointments, notes and to-do.

It can even play music with PocketTunes and can create, edit and view native Word and Excel compatible files.
