IRON MAN

By Gameboy

A movie tie-in featuring the high-tech, high-flying Marvel superhero.

The game, based on the summer blockbuster starring Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire industrialist Tony Stark, allows players to don a suit of armour and reach mach speed.

Flying around and hovering in mid-air,  have a blast as you wreak havoc on foes with missiles, repulser shots and a devastating 'uni-beam.' Upgrading armour, power, and abilities, is fun.

But it requires brains rather than brawn. Complicated hand controls don't help the gaming experience. Neat graphics, the action takes place in an open-world environment and there is a danger of players wandering endlessly.

Great for short term fun but suffers in comparison with newly released Grand Theft Auto IV which is occupying the time of most gamers.

Film fans will enjoy voice-overs from the original actors.  As in the movie, Downey delivers his lines with bite. His wisecracking asides are one of the most engaging part of the game.

Verdict:  Great fun and action packed but too many people still getting to grips with GTA IV and the fantastic Wii Fit.
