Expert Susie Nelson, the founder of Modes & More, exclusively revealed to Express.co.uk key wardrobe adjustments to turn your look from drab to fab.

"Start with good underwear," affirmed Susie, which includes underpinnings, shape wear, Spanx and a great bra that "banishes back fat".

Jan Wirral beamed: "Excellent. These are so useful... just to smooth out... lumps and bumps."

Dun na nGall wrote: "I absolutely love this body-shaper. It smooths all the lumps and bumps perfectly.

"True to size and no vpl [visible panty line]. Definitely makes a difference to your shape. Firm support without feeling uncomfortable. Would recommend it."

Not everybody agreed, however, as one customer said: "My b**bs were at my chin... it was so tight across my rib cage and very hard to get on."

The best way to see if the shape wear feels goods to you is to try it on, which can be done at home or at the store.

In addition to good shape wear, fashion expert Susie recommended dressing in "dark colours" to create a slim-looking silhouette.

These colours include black, navy, aubergine and green, which are "more slimming than light colours".

When it comes to wearing jeans, opt for a high-waisted jean with flared legs over low-waisted jeans, always.

"Find a dress or trousers with a vertical colour band down the side," recommended Susie.

Solid colours work better than prints, vertical stripes not horizontal, and tailored jackets and blazers are a winner.

Additional style tips from Susie include a V-neck, not crew neckline, and wear long necklaces.

Susie added: "Accentuate your best features with tight clothing and disguise other areas with looser clothing."
