Prince Harry was a bit of a handful as a teenager, says Henry Somerset, the 12th Duke of Beaufort.

So much so that Harry’s antics have made their way into Somerset’s forthcoming memoir, titled The Unlikely Duke, which is set to be published in November.

The book may not be out yet but an excerpt ran in The Daily Mail, which includes some fun in the sun for Harry, 16, and a bunch of friends at Badminton House in Gloucestershire, England.

The pool party was for Somerset’s niece, who was turning 16 that day. Somerset says that he found himself fretting over what to do if he had to “reprimand” Harry, as he’s fifth in line to the throne.

Harry did get a little out of hand, but it wasn’t Somerset who had to step in, it was the butler.

Somerset writes about a pool party, which took place back in 2000, saying: “One of the guests was Prince Harry, 16 at the time, who'd come over from Highgrove.”

Everything was fine at first, but then things took a turn, claims Somerset.

He claims Harry playfully pushed a partygoer into the pool, adding: "There was a predictable outburst of laughter from the other guests."

His father’s butler, Steve, then stepped in, saying: “Stop that at once.”

Somerset’s author bio reads: “The 12th Duke of Beaufort, known to his friends as 'Bunter', inherited his Dukedom and Badminton House in 2017, at the age of 65. But he is also a singer and songwriter with the rock group The Listening Device. Now he combines his responsibilities as Duke with his line as a rock performer.”

Harry is a little more buttoned up these days, married and a father to two: Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.
