Royal expert Michael Cole sharply criticized Prince Harry after staggering costs from his recent unsuccessful court battle against the UK Government over his police protection were revealed, leaving taxpayers with a bill exceeding £500,000.

The Duke of Sussex had initiated legal proceedings against the Home Office following the February 2020 decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) to adjust his taxpayer-funded protection level while in the UK.

A Freedom of Information request by The Telegraph disclosed that Prince Harry's halted legal action racked up considerable expenses: over £180,000 for legal counsel, £230,000 for the Government Legal Department, £2,300 in court fees, and close to £10,000 for e-disclosure.

Cole labelled the royal as the "prince of litigation" and commented that the British public is "footing the bill for all this".
