A dad-of-three has died just days after marrying his partner despite being told he had a 90 per cent chance of survival.

Paddy Dowling, from Birmingham, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January but was told by doctors his chances of beating the disease were high.

Despite successful chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, doctors at Queen Elizabeth Hospital found three tumours in his brain over the next few months as he began having seizures.

The 33-year-old was then given the devastating news he only had a few weeks to live.

Due to his quick deterioration, Paddy and his partner Shannon married on August 31 at their home in Tamworth with his three children.

There was no wedding dress, speeches or toasts, with Paddy in his bed and the pair vowing “til death do us part”.

The only pictures taken were of the couple and the children’s hands to showcase their wedding rings.

Paddy died just 10 days later on September 10, surrounded by his new wife and loved ones.

His sister-in-law Gemma Chatterley told BirminghamLive: "Paddy was the most gentle person who would do anything for anyone; he would have given them his last fiver.

"Everyone who knew him loved him because he was such a nice, genuine guy. Paddy was a family man who was devoted to his children and was so kind, caring, helpful and always polite.

"Everyone has been in a mess since his death and it is heartbreaking as he declined so quickly. The wedding was very emotional. He was barely able to get through the vows.

"The youngest two sons don't understand what's happened and think daddy is a superhero in the sky. Their grandad died last year and it's so terrible the boys and their older sister are experiencing such loss at that age."

"Shannon and Paddy were made for each other and now she's trying to cope with losing him.

"She is crying all the time and in so much pain but having to worry about funeral costs and debts too. I don't want her to suffer more than she is, so I set up the fundraising page.

"We want Paddy to have the funeral he deserves and that could be between £3,000 and £4,000. He was taken from us far too soon and no-one was prepared for it."
