UK snow latest: Expert pinpoints exact areas set for flurries in brutal winter revenge

A fluctuating period of both hot and cold weather is on the horizon, with temperatures peaking at 20C with some areas seeing a huge slump - and even some snow.

That's according to Jim Dale, a senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, who told Express.co.uk that despite "most pleasant" conditions for the majority of this week, an area of the country may be in for "transient snow" in around 10 days time.

Mr Dale, a seasoned weather predictor, told this website that other parts of the world may be getting scorching sun, with parts of Europe set to boil, but that doesn't mean Britain is set for it.

He said: "All the big heat is elsewhere [outside the UK]. However, it will turn out mostly pleasant as we head through this week into the weekend. Back to low 20’s by then."

He then offered a stark warning to those in the north of the country: "It won’t last however, turning colder again in about nine to ten days time, possibly some transient northern snow. This is the Jekyll & Hyde month after all."

Mr Dale's prediction is carried by GFS weather maps, WX Charts, which is anticipating snowfall for a large section of northern Britain on April 24. Maps show the abundant snow fall, but snow depth graphs indicate very little will settle - due to the time of year.

It is important to state that the Met Office does not predict snow more than two days out from the date in question. The national forecaster argues that any predictions made about snow at longer range can be unreliable.
