Manchester United's reluctance to turn their temporary capture of the popular Tevez into a permanent £26million deal has alerted other clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Benitez would love nothing more than to snatch Tevez away from bitter rivals United.

The Spaniard’s hands are tied, however, when it comes to his spending power, even though a truce has been called between warring co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
