McGregor fears he'll never become a flying ace
EWAN MCGREGOR fears he'll never become a high-flier because he's too busy to land his pilot's licence.
The Scottish star is halfway towards becoming the latest celebrity to take off as a pilot, but the actor is so in demand he never gets time to build up his flying miles.
He explains, "I didn't go solo yet because I never quite got to that point. I went off to do a job, which led straight into another job.
"What worries me about it is if I get the licence, what happens if I'm always going away? I don't like to fly when I'm making a movie, so I'm gonna be the most inconsistent pilot."
But at least he's well aware of the dangers of flying - his instructor was recently involved in a crash landing, and survived to tell the story.
McGregor says, "He had been in a plane crash just about two weeks before we went over emergency procedures... He showed me a picture of a crashed aeroplane that he'd stepped out of.
"He'd been teaching someone and the throttle cable had just become detached from the throttle and they crash landed into a field."
