Sheen honoured by Queen

THE QUEEN star MICHAEL SHEEN came face to face with the real British monarch when he was honoured during a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (02Jun09).

The 40 year old, who portrayed former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the hit film, was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to drama.

Sheen said he was "thrilled" with the honour from British royal Queen Elizabeth II - but also puzzled as to why he was handed the status.

He says, "This is a huge honour. I am both thrilled and slightly mystified, but very grateful."

Sheen was accompanied by his daughter Lily, whose mother is actress Kate Beckinsale.
