The Hide
THE Hide offers conclusive proof that you don’t need big bucks or exotic locations to create an intriguing drama.
Based on a stage play and still very theatrical at times the film is set on the Isle of Sheppey where Roy Tunt (Alex MacQueen) is birdwatching in solitary splendour.
When he is joined by the mysterious Dave John (Phil Campbell) the mood darkens as we start to stray into territory that is part Samuel Beckett and part fatalistic film noir.
Moody, minimalist and well-observed this is a quirky low-budget triumph for director Marek Losey, grandson of the great Joseph Losey.
