Wales midfielder Davies, above, missed the end of last season because of the problem but is now on the road to recovery.

However, Davies, 29, is likely to miss the start of Fulham’s Europa League campaign, which kicks off on July 30.

He said: “It has been a few weeks now since the operation and next I will be able to have the scans to see that the bone has healed all right. If everything goes to plan I will be back for pre-season.

“Being cautious, I might miss the first couple of weeks but, all being well, I will be fit and available for selection for the first game of the season.

“The specialist said that if I had carried on longer, the bone could have cracked all the way through and it would have been five or six months out.”
