First Kaka, now Real eye Ronaldo

REAL MADRID’S new president Florentino Perez has vowed to pursue Cristiano Ronaldo after claiming the world-record signing of Kaka is just the start of his spending spree.

Perez is planning a second galactico era to rival that of his first reign, when Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and David Beckham graced his team.

After paying £59million to bring in playmaker Kaka from AC Milan, Perez is now lining up other targets – with Ronaldo top of his wanted list.

Perez said: “I will do everything possible to get Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Kaka is just the first signing.

“Ronaldo is a great player who we would like to bring to the club but first we have to speak to Manchester United as the important thing is for us to maintain a good rapport with everyone.

“We are always thinking about great players.

“Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are among other great players around the world. These are players we would like, but they can’t all come.”

Real’s sporting director Jorge Valdano said: “We have needs and we will try to satisfy them with more signings which must make us better. But we are beholden to the market and things are not as fluid as we would like.

“We will be working on purchases and sales at the same time and see then what squad we are left with, certainly a better one than last season, which is the main aim.”
