Emma set for drama class

Oscar-winning luvvie Emma Thompson has revealed she will be working as a part-time drama teacher during her self-imposed “gap year”.

The actress, who turned 50 in April, has treated herself to a year off in order to spend more time with her family and pass tips on to budding thesps at her daughter’s local primary school.

“I’m taking a year off. That’s my birthday present to myself,” trilled the Nanny McPhee star who lives in North-west London with actor husband Greg Wise and their nine-year-old, Gaia.

“I’m not going to act, write or anything like that. I’ll just be a mum. I’ll teach drama at my daughter’s school, I’ll cook meals and have fun,” she added.

But how will the world of British period drama cope without her?
