KANU: to stay at Portsmouth

Wednesday July 1,2009

By Brendan Abbott

KANU is set to stay at Portsmouth after being offered a new 12-month contract.

Nigerian striker Kanu was used mainly as a substitute last season, but he still made 25 appearances for the club, exactly the number he needed to ensure he would get a fresh deal.

But former England defender Sol Campbell’s contract ran out yesterday and he has yet to accept a new offer that would drastically cut his basic pay of about £100,000 a week.
