MICRO: Software giant tops competitor

SOFTWARE group Micro Focus International has sweetened its offer for US firm Borland Software to try to trump an unnamed rival.

Micro said its new offer of $113million (£69million) had been approved by the boards of both companies. It raised its bid from $1.15 to $1.50 a share.
