Murray's success has sent ticket prices soaring

IF YOU fancy Centre Court seats for the men's Wimbledon final be prepared to fork out up to £20,000.

Online ticket prices for the match on Sunday have rocketed, with Andy Murray edging closer to a place in the final last night.

As the British number one eased past Juan Carlos Ferrero in straight sets to secure a place in the semis for the first time in his career, internet sites were swarming with tickets priced at as much as 200 times their face value.

One seller put four tickets online last night at a whopping £20,000 each.

Today online auction site Ebay was advertising pairs of tickets for £5000.

Demand for the coveted seats has soared with each match Murray has won.

Last night the 22-year-old Scot served 18 aces as he raced to a 7-5 6-3 6-2 quarter-final win in just an hour and 43 minutes, winning 11 of the next 13 games from 3-1 down in the second set.

He said: “To get to the semi-finals for the first time is nice and I’ll try my best to go further.

If he beats Andy Roddick in their clash tomorrow he could meet Roger Federer in the final - and stand a chance of becoming the first British man to lift the trophy in 73 years.

Wimbledon authorities are investigating bogus websites charging thousands of pounds but not producing any tickets.

One such site is - onlinewimbledontickets.com - which appears to be set up to look like the official Wimbledon website.
