ARE CHILD STARS PAID TOO MUCH?

Drew Barrymore's childhood fame nearly ruined her

Tuesday June 26,2007

A SPELLBINDING future beckons for starry-eyed youngsters hoping to be icons of new Harry Potter movies.

Those who win the coveted roles in an X Factor-style talent contest will be following in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe, the boy wizard who will soon get his hands on a £20million pot of gold.

That jackpot will fall into the young actor’s lap when he celebrates his 18th birthday next month – it is money that has been growing untouched since he began starring as JK Rowling’s fantasy creation.

Dreams of such riches will spur on thousands of youngsters who will flock to Earls Court Exhibition Centre, West London, on the next two Sundays to audition for the next film in the series – Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince.

What do YOU think? Will paying child stars so highly simply ruin them?
